River Homes

A collection of River Homes specifically designed for Crane Island by acclaimed architects throughout the Southeast. You will see a range of home programs from single level to 2 story. Homes here generally range from from 3000 to 5000 square feet with the majority of the home facing the view out the back of the home. The variety of massing, carriage house options and elevations is intentional to show the range of what’s possible here. 

HOMESTEAD COLLECTION

The Southern Living™ Idea House was a big success for  Crane Island in bringing awareness and new property owners to the community. It also was a terrific example of vernacular architecture by the acclaimed team of Historical Concepts from Atlanta, GA. Based on this success, Crane Island engaged Historical Concepts to do an encore project in the most historic part of Crane Island where the Broadbent family resided as well as where some of our most sacred Heritage Oaks exists. As a result, 7 homes were designed in what we call the Homestead Collection. We invite you to come and have a closer look at this exemplary body of work. Marsh Homes

Living on a tidal marsh on Amelia Island has many benefits from the forever changing landscape as well as prevailing breezes. We thought long and hard about this “edge” condition and wanted to share a few opportunities of plans that live perfectly for this setting. Living on the marsh is about taking in the prevailing breezes and enjoying the daily tides that ebb and flow here. 

Park Homes

A collection of Park Homes to help frame Alice Park and other park areas of Crane Island. Social in their design focus  of “Front Porch  Living”. The Park Homes range from 2300 to 3400 sq feet and range from 3 to 5 bedrooms.  The Park Homes present a “social” experience that is different from other areas of Crane Island. Front porches often front parks and walking paths enabling neighbors to be… well neighbors offering greetings and “catch up” opportunities. Homes often will have a primary front door on the park but also a secondary arrival door on the lane side of the home. Garages are always in the rear of the home reminiscent of older neighborhoods in the United States on lane ways. 

Single Story Homes

We get asked this question from time to time and the answer is “yes” we do have single story plans. In this book, you can see plans from 1700 sq feet to 4500 sq feet by a range of wonderful designers and architects. One consideration of single story plans is their foot-print and so we will need to work carefully with property owners to ensure we minimize any impact on trees and we have enough room to work around them. We hope you enjoy this early collection of plans and more will be added in the coming weeks and months. Cottage Homes

A collection of inspired cottages for Crane Island. From 1500 to 2400 sq feet, these homes are the answer when it comes to downsizing but keeping the “jewelry”.  Those homes are carefully thought through to maximize the utilization of space and storage. At Crane Island, we believe beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and we look forward to seeing how this collection can grow and evolve. 

Design Guidelines Of Crane Island

What makes all of this work from a design perspective is having a solid set of design guidelines that set the tone of what desired and allowed. We set out early that we must have some design principles that mattered if we were going to establish a vision for timeless design. We created the Design Guidelines as a way to shepherd these design principles to honor the traditions of Old Fernandina Beach and all things Lowcountry that permeate the Sea Island Chain from Amelia Island to Charleston, SC.
