Progress – May 2018

May 2018 – Crane Island – Fernandina Beach Florida. The past month was a month of complete firsts for Crane Island. We received our first Recorded Plat from Nassau County. We completed our first real estate closing with an amazing family from New Jersey who is building their first home. We are now preparing our second closing which will happen in mid-June so very excited to have new families joining us each month. We introduced our Crane Island Historian Nick Deonas (See Nick’s Blog Here). We put up streets signs and stop signs. We created a hill we call Mount Crane which is the location of the River House Amenity. You have to see the photos to appreciate it and we can’t be more encouraged by the progress on so many levels.

Updates

Sales: 1st Closing occurred and we are on preparing our second.

Development: – The most important event besides buying the property is the actual recording of the Plat for Crane Island with Nassau County.  This is an important milestone as we can now start building at Crane Island so owners and builders can submit to the City of Fernandina Beach Building Department to receive permits. We have 5 builder homes and 2 families ready to start building in the coming months.

River House – Site work has begun and as part of the process, the engineers asked that we place soil on the pad site to test for any movement and we have built a 10-foot mound of dirt we affectionately call Mount Crane. See the photos. Early indications form the engineers is that there is no movement on the dirt which is a good thing and we anticipate removing the fill in the early June timeframe.

Architecture Guild – At the end of May we are planning a first of a kind meeting of the Architecture Guild of Crane Island. The first meeting will be with Historical Concepts, Moser Design Group, TS Adams Studios, and MHK Architecture & Planning. The goal will be to design 4 homes for the upcoming Alice Park neighborhood within Crane Island and examine the opportunity to live on the park with deep porches overlooking the park and long views towards the Intracoastal Waterway.

A bit of a historic month for Crane Island and we continue to be excited about the progress, interest and early momentum of the community.

Warm Regards,

The Crane Island Team – Nicole, Vann & John
